Do You Know The 3 Types of M-Commerce ?

Our Poll question was on Types of M-Commerce, we asked users and viewers “Do you know the 3 types of M-Commerce”. 80% of our viewers voted “Yes, I know.” And balance 20% voters said “No, I Don’t”, there are no votes for the third option which is “Yes, I Know partially”. According to the analysis we found that most of our voters know well about M-Commerce, they do know the 3 types of Mobile Commerce. For viewers who have no idea of our poll question or don’t know the answer, here are the brief explanations of 3 Types of M-Commerce:
There are 3 type of M-commerce, which is Premium Content, Remote Payment and Point-of-sale. Premium Content is where special or expensive content is offered to the phone subscriber. It depends a lot on the phone technology that is 3G (3rd generation) or 4G (4th generation). 3G phones are available in almost every country however there are only a few countries like Japan and South Korea with 4G technologies enabled. These services include like video, music and stock exchange information. Remote Payment is largely similar to E- Commerce on the web. It basically refers to the online payment of money whereby the one paying is in a different location from the one receiving. This is supported in m-commerce through secure payment connections. The last and third type is point-of-sale this refers to commerce in which the mobile device is used as a point of sale. This is possible if the device can access the online store. These devices are not the typical mobile devices but are capable of accessing higher content. They are usually WAP enabled and can access xml and java components as well.

Mandate Mobile Payment Protections

Regarding the latest news which have highlighted on how consumers in the U.S. are soon able to pay for products and services with a wave of their smart phones. However with this convinience, certain risks pose a threat as with the threat of losing money when mistakes are made by the dealers and also there may be con men that would convince a consumer to fall for their phishing site and cheat them of their money. Although the federal law protects the consumers if there is a los of credit card or debit card, but there is a lacking in the current protection to all new types of payments. Credit cards provide protections in case of bank errors, unauthorized use, and disputes with the dealers, but debit cards provide only protections for bank errors and unauthorized use, not for disputes with the dealers. If the Federal Reserve Board fails to act, Consumers Union noted that the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created under the recently passed financial reform legislation has the authority to address unfair payment practices.

This voters might have experience on applying M-Commerce and E-Commerce in their daily life or they might have read or studied in some blogs, magazine or websites, like an example I.T students or Entrepreuner's sure knows the differences between the E-Commerce and M-Commerce. 20% of the voters voted they do not know the differences. These voters might be new to the Internet world therefore they might lack of knowledge on the new technologies. these are the people are not so involved or interested with the latest technolgy and creation or even Internet phobic. The other 20% of vote comes from voters who claim that they MAYBE know the difference between E-Commerce and M-commerce. These are the people who partially know what is the technology about but not so sure how does it work in the real world, therefore i have provided a brief explanation on the differences between E-Commerce and M-Commerce which would help the voters to understand more
precisely.

E-Commerce is short for electronic commerce and refers to the field of marketing, buying, selling, distributing and servicing different products and/or services over the internet. It aims at using electronic business applications for the purpose of commercial transactions. E-Commerce is believed to have started off in 1994.
M-Commerce on the other hand stands for Mobile Commerce and refers to commercial transactions being conducted over cellular and mobile devices. M-Commerce originated sometime during the 1990s. The methods of payment used are normally calling numbers with premium rates, reduction of the caller's credit and charging the user's bill.

Goals of Mobile Commerce

With the current era, technology is evolving very rapidly. Therefore, the use of mobile phones are becomming more of an everyday item to most people. Almost everyone has a mobile phone, even individuals as young as 12 years old. Mobile commerce is also a natural evolvement of Electronic Commerce into a digital and mobile world.

The general idea of Mobile Commerce is to spread information throughout and to generate revenue in a mobile way. This kind of merchandising provides multiple types of information to its consumers. However, most of them are based on the sales of the mobile devices ratio. Also, one technical pre-assumption for mobile commerce is made available, there is a high chance of the consumer using them.

A type of data transmission known as the GPRS with a function similar to the Internet-Protocol, which makes a better use of existing resources with the updated mobile phone networks. Alongside with High Speed Circuit Switched Data which enables a transmission rate of 76.8 KB per second. Unfortunately, a high amount of bandwidth would be required.

Mobile Commerce is also an aid for business processes and also for the intention of managing business relationships. This is very critical as communication is very important to convey and receive message across great distances. The use of communication and information technologies will greatly continue to evolve and develop our country.

Would Mobile Commerce turn into the next hype?-Alongside with all the repercussions of a hype? What are your thoughts on this matter?
